KALAVRITA
The Municipality of Kalavrιta is located in the prefecture of Achaia and its capital is the city of Kalavrita that was created in 1944, with the liberation of Greece, as a tribute to the victims of the massacre of Kalavrita. Now has an area of 531,797 hectares and 8,580 inhabitants (2001).
In the municipality of Kalavrita there are the Monastery of Agia Lavra, the Monastery of the Great Cave, the Museum of the Holocaust of Kalavrita and the Memorial of Sacrifice. At the top of Helmos within the limits of the municipality is the Aristarchus Telescope, at the town of Kalavryta concludes Diakopto - Kalavrita Odontotos Railway. Natural attractions of the municipality include Gorge Vouraikos the waters of the Styx and the Cave of the Lakes. Close to Kalavrita is located the Helmos or Kalavrita Ski Center.
The Kalavrita Ski Center is located on the northwestern side of Helmos at an altitude of 1700 m (Xerokampos) to 2340 m (Neraidorahi).
